Approximately 3 hours away from Medellín is a Nature Reserve called Río Claro. We packed an overnight bag, leaving our big backpacks at the hostel in Medellín and headed on the Metro to the bus station with Micheal and Torben, a couple of German guys we met in Bogotá. They spoke fluent Spanish, which was helpful when trying to work out which bus we needed to get! Unfortunately the bus got stuck in traffic as there was an accident on the road, so we arrived at the entrance to reserve at sunset and had to try and find our way in the dark. There were hundreds of fireflys on the walk though, which made it a pretty incredible trek. Although it was a relief when we reached the main cabin and could have dinner and beers!
The morning view from our room was amazing! A panoramic outlook of the rainforest open to the elements.
We started the day with a canopy tour of the rainforest flying across various zip wires over the river.
Followed by caving, which consisted of climbing and sliding over rocks.
The rest of the afternoon we spent swimming in the river and enjoying the sunshine before heading back on the bus to Medellín.
Hello! I am going to Colombia next week and would very much like to do this, looks amazing! Can you tell me what the name of this reserve that you stayed in is callled? Did you have to book in advance etc?
