Minca

600m up into the Sierre Nevada above Santa Marta is the small village of Minca. We stayed here for a couple of nights at Casa Elemento a 40 minute moto ride up from Minca. Woke up at 5.30AM and trekked to the top of the rainforest for sunrise. The views were incredible!

It was a extremely relaxing hostel with a tree house and a giant hammock hanging out into the rainforest. Although we both got bitten a lot by sandflies!

On the way back to Santa Marta we stopped by a local waterfall and jumped in!

Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona

One of colombias most popular national parks and absolutely stunning is the tranquil Park Tayrona. It's beaches are scattered with huge boulders that were once worshipped by the local indigenous people. From the entrance it's a 2 hour walk to Cabo San Juan de la Guía where we stayed there for a couple of nights in a hammock with panoramic views of the ocean.

Taganga Santa Marta

Taganga is a small fishing village set around an turquoise horse shoe bay, with beautiful coral reefs. We spent the day there snorkelling and sampling the local fish!

Volcan de Lodo El Totumo

We took a day trip to El Tormuno close to Cartagena. It is an alleged healing mud bath process which is followed by a bath by locals to remove the mud in a nearby lagoon. A funny experience!

Cartagena & Playa Blanca

Made it to the Carribbean Coast of Cartagena. A fairy-tale city of romance, legends and sheer beauty. It's has cobbled alleys and balconies shrouded in bougainvilla within the walls of the old city.

Just a bus ride and motor taxi or speed boat away is the the island of Playa Blanca. An incredible sandy beach with clear blue sea! We spent a night here sleeping in hammocks on the beach.

Made a new friend along the way too.
